The steeped bag is genuinely clean: unbleached abaca (manila hemp) paper, closed with a metal staple (no glue), an organic cotton string, and a paper tag printed with vegetable-based ink. The co-op is unusually candid that the one plastic in the package is the individual envelope - a paper-and-plastic laminate it openly flags as not recyclable or compostable - which is outside the steep path.

How clear are their specs?

"Our Packaging" page lists the bag fiber, cotton string, and veg-ink paper tag, and honestly discloses the plastic-lined outer envelope rather than hiding it.
