Moccamaster's ethos is repairability and longevity - copper heating element, glass carafe, decades of service - rather than plastic-free, and it shows. The brew basket and outlet arm are BPA-free plastic sitting in the hot-water path, and the brand defends them on performance grounds rather than designing them out. To their credit, a stainless steel outlet arm is sold as a replacement, so the worst offender is swappable, but out of the box this is minimal-contact.
