Keeps plastic out of the water it stores: the polished-stainless gravity dispenser holds filtered water in a steel chamber, so the reservoir and spout aren't plastic. As with any all-in-one carbon element, the plastic that remains is confined to the G2.0 filter housing rather than the storage surface. It's a steel-bodied system where plastic is a filter component, not the container.
