Ratio
A partial, honest step rather than a plastic-free stance: the Eight Series 2 deliberately pulls plastic out of the HOT water path, running it through hand-blown glass and steel, which is where hot-water leaching would matter most. But the cold reservoir is still a BPA-free polymer, so plastic hasn't been designed out - it's been relocated to the part they judged lower-risk. That's a defensible engineering choice and they don't hide it, but it stops short of a truly plastic-free machine.
How clear are their specs?
Unusually candid about the split - explicitly states the hot path is glass and steel while the cold reservoir remains BPA-free plastic, rather than implying the whole machine is plastic-free.
