The child sips from the silicone spout, but the water travels through and sits against the polypropylene cap body and valve, so plastic is in the water path. It is meaningfully less plastic than an all-plastic kids bottle (steel body, tiny plastic cap), but it is not silicone-only. Swap the Sport Cap for the all-steel Loop Cap and it becomes plastic-free (see the Classic Steel Loop Cap entry) - at the cost of the spill-resistant spout.
