Silicone only

The rare 100% plastic-free bottle system - 18/8 stainless body and steel collar, only the interchangeable top is medical-grade silicone.

Plastic-free verdict: Silicone only

Everything hard is 18/8 stainless steel - the bottle body AND the screw collar - which is what sets Pura apart from glass bottles that hide a plastic ring. The only non-steel parts are medical-grade silicone: the interchangeable top (infant nipple, sippy spout, or straw), the protective sleeve, and the travel cover. No polypropylene anywhere in the drink path. As close to plastic-free as a leak-proof modern bottle gets; only the silicone keeps it from a full plastic-free rating.

A single modular stainless steel system that "grows" with the child: one 18/8 stainless bottle body accepts interchangeable medical-grade silicone tops, so the same bottle becomes an infant bottle, a sippy cup, a straw bottle, or a sport/water bottle just by swapping the top. Bottles come in 5oz, 7oz (insulated), 9oz, and 11oz sizes, insulated and non-insulated, each with a silicone sleeve and travel cover. MadeSafe certified and marketed as the only 100% plastic-free stainless steel baby bottle on the market.

Pros

  • Steel collar/ring, not plastic - avoids the hidden-PP problem of glass bottles
  • One bottle covers infant through toddler by swapping silicone tops
  • Stainless is unbreakable and doesn't shed microplastics with hot formula
  • MadeSafe certified; brand's whole identity is plastic-free

Cons

  • Not truly plastic-free for zero-silicone purists (all soft parts are silicone)
  • Opaque steel - can't see how much milk is left
  • Silicone tops wear and need periodic replacement
  • Pricier than plastic bottles
