100% organic merino from French and Italian yarn, with no nylon, polyamide, spandex, or latex, and no elastic strand - a 3-ply cuff does the gripping on the crew versions. The less obvious win is "not superwashed." Machine-washable wool is normally made that way by stripping the fiber's scales with chlorine and sealing them under Hercosett, a polyamide-epichlorohydrin resin that coats every fiber in a layer roughly 100-200nm thick. It's a plastic coating that no fiber-content label has to declare, and skipping it is the difference between wool that is 100% wool and wool that is 100% wool plus a polymer skin. The cost of skipping it is that these need wool-sweater care.
