Kinu leads its own marketing with construction rather than materials politics, but the wording is unusually specific for this category: "all-metal body and internal parts, including a stainless-steel funnel," and a "stainless-steel 11-magnet catch cup." Where plastic appears on the M47 it is deliberate and external - the thumb stopper is ABS because it is a grip.
The catch worth knowing about is at the other end. Kinu sells four different catch cups, and one of them is a two-piece set of food-safe ABS. Buy those and the grounds land in plastic rather than steel, on the same grinder. Which cup ships as stock varies by variant, and Kinu does not make that easy to determine.
How clear are their specs?
Product pages state the funnel and catch-cup materials plainly, which is more than most hand-grinder brands manage. But the exploded diagram in the official manuals numbers nine parts and assigns a material to none of them, there is no spare-parts page with itemized resins, and the burr carrier, axle bushings and burr alloy are never disclosed. No country of manufacture is stated anywhere despite the German brand identity.
