Misen Misenware Stainless Storage Set
Silicone is only a gasket/seal — what touches your food is Stainless Steel (304 / 18-8) and Tempered Glass.
304 stainless containers with silicone-rimmed tempered glass lids - a rare all-steel storage set that's genuinely microwave-safe, with no plastic in the food path. Currently a Kickstarter (ships Oct 2026).
The verdict: Silicone only
Food touches only 304 stainless steel and glass. The containers are 1.0 mm 304 stainless, and the universal lid is tempered glass with a silicone rim that forms the leakproof seal (and a silicone steam vent). The only non-metal, non-glass material anywhere is that silicone gasket, which is the norm for any leakproof lid - so it lands at silicone-only. Notably it also skips the plastic snap lid that compromises almost every other storage set. Misen markets it on "zero microplastics"; the one nuance is that the seal is silicone, not that there's any plastic.

What it's made of
| Part | Material | Food contact |
|---|---|---|
| container body 1.0 mm-thick 304 stainless; oven-safe to 932°F/500°C, and microwave-safe (rounded corners, tested to 1100W) - unusual for steel | Stainless Steel 304 / 18-8 | Yes primary |
| lid (glass) tempered glass; oven-safe to ~400-450°F, microwave-safe with the steam vent open (not freezer-to-oven safe) | Tempered Glass | Yes incidental |
| lid rim / seal + steam vent silicone rim forms the leakproof seal; the only non-glass/steel material | Silicone | Yes seal |
A nesting stainless-steel food storage system in three self-stacking sizes - Small (~2.95 cups / 700 ml), Medium (~4.64 cups / 1,100 ml), and Large (~6.34 cups / 1,500 ml) - that share one universal silicone-rimmed tempered glass lid, so there are no mismatched container-and-lid pairs. The 18-piece Mixed set is an assortment of the three sizes with matching lids. The steel bodies go oven (to 500°C), grill, freezer, and dishwasher, and - unusually for metal - the microwave, thanks to thick walls and rounded corners; the glass lid is microwave-safe with its steam vent open. Volume measurements are engraved on the inner walls.
Pros
- All-steel body with a glass lid and silicone seal - no plastic in the food path, and no plastic snap lid
- Genuinely microwave-safe stainless (lab-tested to 1100W), plus oven/grill/freezer/dishwasher
- One universal lid fits all three sizes; containers self-nest to save space
- Leakproof (passes upside-down/sideways tests with water, oil, and tomato sauce)
Cons
- Not shipping until ~October 2026 - crowdfunding pledge, not a finished retail product yet
- Expensive for a storage set
- Glass lid isn't freezer-to-oven safe and tops out around 400-450°F (remove or vent it above that)
- Silicone seal (not for strict silicone-avoiders)
Notes
- Sold as a Kickstarter late-pledge; also offered in 12-piece and 6-piece sets that use the same containers
- Do not use in 1200W or 915 MHz microwaves, and keep the containers from touching the microwave's metal walls/rack (can spark)
