There is no elastic strand at all. The socks hold their shape through a multi-ply knit and a proprietary cuff pattern, which is why the brand can call them fully biodegradable. Read the percentage before you buy, though: Rawganique also sells 99.95% and 99.8% lines that add a trace of what it calls "bio elastic," and only the ones labelled 100% are elastic-free.
