Varia

Plastic-free focus Specs partially disclosed Made in China variabrewing.com ↗

Varia is one of the only grinder brands that treats "no plastic touches your coffee" as a headline feature rather than an afterthought. The VS3 page states that from hopper to dosing cup coffee only contacts metal; the VS6 spec line reads "Full Metal Build, No Plastic Parts in Contact with Coffee." The first-generation VS3 did use plastic motor components, and the second generation moved the gearbox to all stainless — so the claim reflects a real design change, not just copy.

Two honest caveats. The claim is coffee-contact-scoped, not a whole-product claim: the VS4's own materials line reads "Aluminium alloy, Stainless Steel, Food-Safe Plastic, Food-Safe Silicone," which shows the brand does use plastic where it doesn't touch coffee. And no independent teardown has ever verified the VS3 or VS6 grounds chute — the highest-contact part — so the metal path rests on Varia's word plus one reviewer repeating it.

How clear are their specs?

Publishes downloadable manuals with technical-specification tables, which is better than most. But no exploded diagram or per-part materials list exists for any grinder, and Varia sells almost no spare parts — for the VS6 the only user-serviceable spare is the burr set. The manual's own spec sheet says the body is "ADC12 die cast and machined aluminium" while the storefront advertises "space-grade CNC machined aluminium" — a gap worth knowing about.

Products we list

$$$$ Varia VS3 single-dose electric coffee grinder in black, with its metal dosing cup docked beneath the chute

VS3

Silicone only

A single-dose electric grinder built around a claim almost no competitor makes - that coffee touches only metal from the hopper to the catch cup.

$$$$ Varia VS6 electric coffee grinder in black, front view with the magnetic dosing cup in place

VS6

Silicone only

The bigger, faster sibling to the VS3, carrying the same all-metal coffee path plus ionization needles in the chute instead of a plastic-and-static compromise.
