Earth Breeze Eco Sheets

Not recommended

The popular "plastic-free" laundry sheet - which is actually detergent bound in polyvinyl alcohol, a dissolvable plastic film. The jug is gone; the plastic moved into your wash.

We don't recommend this one

Marketed as plastic-free because there's no jug - but the sheet is bound with PVA, a water-soluble plastic, listed on Earth Breeze's own ingredients. For the same convenience without the film, use a PVA-free tablet (Blueland) or a powder.

The verdict: Minimal plastic contact

Earth Breeze's whole pitch is doing away with the plastic jug, and it does - but the sheet itself is held together with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), a water-soluble plastic, which appears on the brand's own ingredient list. So the plastic doesn't disappear; it moves from a jug you can see to a film that dissolves into your wash water. Whether that dissolved PVA then biodegrades is genuinely unresolved (Earth Breeze argues it does; an independent 2021 model estimated most survives US treatment). It's rated minimal-contact because the plastic is the binder rather than the bulk - but it's exactly the "plastic-free" claim worth correcting, and a powder or PVA-free tablet avoids the question.

Yes primary

Lightweight pre-portioned detergent sheets sold by subscription in a flat paper mailer, dropped straight into the drum. Convenient and low-bulk - documented here not because it's a bad detergent but because the "plastic-free" claim needs the asterisk in the verdict above.

Pros

  • No plastic jug; light, compact, and easy to ship or travel with
  • Pre-measured; dissolves in hot or cold water

Cons

  • The sheet is bound with PVA, a water-soluble plastic - not "plastic-free" in the material sense
  • The eco marketing talks about the jug, not the film
