The Silvia's heated brew path is brass: a brass boiler feeds a commercial brass group head, and the portafilter is chrome-plated brass, so the pressurized hot brew water only touches brass and steel. We rate it minimal-contact because the cold water sits in a plastic pour-over reservoir before it's drawn in (the same cold-water-in-plastic caveat we apply to plastic-tank kettles and pitchers) - brief, cold contact, far less than a pod machine, but still plastic in the water's path. The non-wetted portafilter handle is also plastic, and the group gasket compound isn't named by Rancilio.
