Bamboo Suction Plate
A genuinely solid-bamboo divided baby plate (not the melamine-bound "bamboo fiber" trap) with a removable silicone suction ring - the rare natural-material kids plate.
Plastic-free verdict: Silicone only
The plate is solid organic bamboo sealed with an FDA-approved food-grade varnish - Avanchy is explicit that it is NOT "bamboo fiber," i.e. not bamboo powder bound in melamine-formaldehyde resin, which is the plastic that most cheap "bamboo" kids dishware actually is. The only non-bamboo part is a removable food-grade silicone suction ring on the base, which doesn't touch food. That silicone ring is the sole reason it isn't rated fully plastic-free; pop it off and you have an all-natural bamboo plate.

What it's made of
| Part | Material | Food contact |
|---|---|---|
| plate body solid organic bamboo with FDA-approved food-grade varnish; explicitly NOT bamboo-fiber/melamine composite | Bamboo | Yes |
| suction ring / base removable food-grade silicone ring; interchangeable with Avanchy's same-size stainless plate; plate usable without it | Silicone | No |
A divided toddler plate carved from solid organic bamboo and finished with a food-grade varnish, paired with a removable food-grade silicone ring that suctions to the table. Its importance is as much about what it is NOT: the vast majority of "bamboo" kids' plates are actually bamboo fiber - bamboo powder bound with melamine-formaldehyde resin (a plastic that has been restricted for food contact in the EU and can leach at high temperatures). Avanchy markets this line specifically as real, melamine-free bamboo. It's lighter and warmer than steel but, being wood, needs hand-washing and can eventually wear.
Pros
- Solid, melamine-free bamboo - a true natural material, not a bamboo-fiber composite
- Removable silicone ring means it can be used as an all-natural (silicone-free) plate
- Warm to the touch and lightweight for small hands
- Biodegradable body
Cons
- Silicone suction ring keeps it from a fully plastic-free rating
- Bamboo needs hand-washing; not dishwasher- or microwave-safe
- Varnish and bamboo wear over time with heavy use
- Not as bomb-proof as stainless steel
Notes
- Comes with a silicone-tipped bamboo spoon in some SKUs
- The silicone ring is shared with Avanchy's same-size stainless plate and removes for cleaning or silicone-free use
- "Bamboo fiber" / "rice husk" dishware from other brands is melamine plastic - this product is deliberately not that
