DF Grinders DF64 Gen 2
The grinder that made 64mm flat burrs affordable - beans land in silicone and grounds leave through a plastic chute, which the brand concedes in one sentence and nowhere else.
The verdict: Minimal plastic contact
Read this one by generation, because the DF64 has been quietly removing plastic from its coffee path one part at a time and the sources have not kept up.
On this generation the chute is still plastic. DF Grinders' own materials FAQ says "The grind chute and cup are food-safe plastic", and a hands-on Gen 2 reviewer independently confirms it, writing that "retention with the little plastic chute was annoying, so I removed it altogether." The DF83 manual from the same maker spells out the equivalent part as "Outlet - Plastic with painted", which is the closest thing to a per-part disclosure the family offers. The stock declumper below the chute is two-part, a metal inner piece with a plastic outer one.
The cup half of that FAQ sentence is now out of date, and the correction matters: Gen 1 shipped a transparent SAN plastic dosing cup, and Gen 2 replaced it with metal. The same reviewer notes "they have made it metal instead of plastic", and the brand's in-box list reads "58mm Black Dosing Cup, Food-Grade Aluminum". So grounds now land in aluminium - they just pass through plastic to get there.
The other contact material is silicone: the bellows doubles as the hopper, so beans sit in silicone before they reach the burrs. That is a design choice this whole family shares, and it is what keeps the machine off a plastic-free rating even in its later generations.
Context worth keeping: this is cold, brief contact - beans pass through in seconds, with none of the hot dwell time that makes a plastic kettle reservoir worth caring about. What a plastic chute really costs you here is static and retention, which is exactly why owners keep modifying it.

A 64mm flat-burr single-dose grinder in a 6.8kg aluminium chassis, and for years the default answer to "how do I get flat burrs without spending a thousand dollars." You dose beans into the bellows, grind, then pump the bellows to push the last grounds through into the cup. Adjustment is stepless micrometric, an AC motor turns the burrs at 1400 RPM, and a built-in plasma ionizer knocks down static as grounds leave. The current sub-version is 2.5, which moved the ionizer probes into the inner chute wall and dropped the dosing collar from the box.

- Sub-versions are visual-only to identify: there is no serial decoding and the maker calls them minor shipment-to-shipment changes. v2.5 is the current one
- The same machine is sold as Turin, MiiCoffee, G-iota and Solo - the maker states they are identical apart from the label
- The cheaper DF54 is not a small DF64 on materials - its dosing cup is SAN plastic, and the DF54 manual drops the food-grade wording the DF64 manuals use
- If the plastic chute is the dealbreaker, the DF64V is the same brand's answer - its chute and declumper are metal
