DF Grinders DF64V Gen 3
Silicone is a primary contact surface here — your food is in direct contact with it, not just a seal.
The generation where the plastic finally left the coffee path - an anodised aluminium chute and a stainless declumper, published part by part in the maker's own manual.
The verdict: Silicone only
This is the DF64 with the plastic taken out of the grounds path, and unusually for this category we do not have to infer it. The Gen 3 manual prints a numbered diagram naming the material of every part, and the two that matter most are stated outright: "Outlet chute - Aluminum alloy with anodizing, Detachable and magnetic type" and "Movable declumper - SUS", which is stainless. On the DF64 Gen 2 those same two parts are plastic. The dosing cup is 6063 anodised aluminium, the popcorning device, adjusting disk, body and base are all anodised aluminium, and the lid and cup stand are wood.
That leaves silicone as the only non-metal in the path, and it is the part beans actually sit in: the bellows doubles as the hopper, listed as "Food grade silicone" with a 30g capacity. Whether that counts against the machine is a personal line - a silicone bellows is close to standard on any single-dose grinder, and here it replaces what would otherwise be a plastic hopper.
Two gaps worth stating. The manual's fifteen entries do not include the burr carrier or the inner surface of the grind chamber, so those remain undocumented. And the brand's own site-wide FAQ still says "The grind chute and cup are food-safe plastic" with no model attached - a sentence this machine's manual contradicts twice over. The manual is the newer and more specific document, and it is the one we rate on.

A variable-speed 64mm flat-burr single-dose grinder in a slim 3.8kg tower - a genuinely different machine from the DF64 Gen 2 rather than a trim level, at roughly half the weight and a much narrower footprint. A brushless DC motor lets you dial grind speed from a click-wheel and display on the side, slower for espresso and faster for filter, and the plasma probe that kills static sits outside the chute rather than in it. The outlet chute detaches magnetically for cleaning. Adjustment is stepless via the top dial.

Cons
- Beans sit in a silicone bellows hopper, so the path is not fully metal

- Seller specs disagree on motor wattage and RPM range, so treat listings with caution

- Buy on the generation, not the family: the DF64 Gen 2 sold alongside it still has a plastic chute
- The same machine is sold as Turin, MiiCoffee, G-iota and Solo - the maker states they are identical apart from the label
- The manual gives 400W and 800-1800 RPM; retailer listings variously say 300W and 600 or 900 RPM at the low end
